For the opening five minutes of Thursday’s Bellator 27 main event, the
self-described “baddest man on the planet” looked like anything but.

Then came round two.

After getting tagged throughout the first round with lead left hands and
nasty right uppercuts, Joe Warren uncorked a
powerful barrage of strikes that left former champion Joe Soto unconscious on the floor.

If an early childhood choice had gone another direction, Germaine De Randamie might’ve become a danger.

Instead, she turned to something no less focused on movement but a touch more violent.

“When I was 8, my mother said I could choose between dancing and
kickboxing,” De Randamie told MMAjunkie.com. “I went
to the first kickboxing class, and I never even made it to dancing. I
told her I had found what I wanted to do.”

BOSTON – UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture long has been recognized as one
of the most strategically sound fighters in the sport of mixed martial
arts.

As such, most MMA observers expected Couture to approach his UFC 118
fight with James Toney on Saturday night in Boston exactly as he did – by putting the accomplished boxer on his back and ending the fight quickly.

Couture spent his entire training camp preparing to do just that, but it
wasn’t until the former champion actually stepped into the cage that he
knew for certain his planned approach was gong to work.

Gabe Ruediger has heard every joke about his battle with a scale. By now he laughs it off or tries to ignore it. He learned a lesson about weight, and unfortunately, it happened on national TV.

On the other hand, he feels it might actually give him an advantage heading into Saturday’s UFC 118 fight with Joe Lauzon.

Because like all the fans who’ve piled on jokes, Lauzon is not taking him seriously.

With three fighters having already punched their tickets to the
semifinals, Bellator heavyweight tournament entrants Mike Hayes and
Alexey Oleinik fought for the remaining spot in the main event of
Wednesday’s Bellator 26 event.

The opening-round tournament matchup, though, proved a sometimes-slow
and lumbering affair – and one exceptionally difficult to score.

Ultimately, though, Oleinik did just enough to earn a split-decision
victory, which aired live on FOX Sports Net from the Kansas City Power
