Tiequan Zhang will soon become World Extreme Cagefighting’s first-ever Chinese fighter.
As MMAjunkie.com first reported in August, China Top
Team fighter Tiequan Zhang has signed a multi-fight deal with the
organization and will debut at WEC 51.
The hard-hitting Alex Karalexis has been booked to welcome “The
Mongolian Wolf” to the cage at the Sept. 30 event, which takes place at
the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo.

BOSTON – UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture long has been recognized as one
of the most strategically sound fighters in the sport of mixed martial
arts.
As such, most MMA observers expected Couture to approach his UFC 118
fight with James Toney on Saturday night in Boston exactly as he did – by putting the accomplished boxer on his back and ending the fight quickly.
Couture spent his entire training camp preparing to do just that, but it
wasn’t until the former champion actually stepped into the cage that he
knew for certain his planned approach was gong to work.

Gabe Ruediger has heard every joke about his battle with a scale. By now he laughs it off or tries to ignore it. He learned a lesson about weight, and unfortunately, it happened on national TV.
On the other hand, he feels it might actually give him an advantage heading into Saturday’s UFC 118 fight with Joe Lauzon.
Because like all the fans who’ve piled on jokes, Lauzon is not taking him seriously.

A lightweight matchup between Brazilian Thiago Tavares and promotional newcomer Pat Audinwood is now official for UFC 119.
UFC officials recently announced the matchup, which was previously reported by MMAjunkie.com.
The contest was created when Audinwood stepped in for Aaron Riley, who was nixed from the contest for undisclosed reasons.

With three fighters having already punched their tickets to the
semifinals, Bellator heavyweight tournament entrants Mike Hayes and
Alexey Oleinik fought for the remaining spot in the main event of
Wednesday’s Bellator 26 event.
The opening-round tournament matchup, though, proved a sometimes-slow
and lumbering affair – and one exceptionally difficult to score.
Ultimately, though, Oleinik did just enough to earn a split-decision
victory, which aired live on FOX Sports Net from the Kansas City Power
& Light District in Missouri.

The full lineup includes six bouts not previously announced by the promotion, though MMAjunkie.com previously reported each of the new fights.
The newly announced fights include Mike Hayes vs. Alexey Oleinik (heavyweight tournament bout), Aisling Daly vs. Lisa Ward (115-pound female tourney bout) on the main card, and Rudy Bears vs. Zak Cummings, Kevin Croom vs. Brian Davidson, Brian Imes vs. John Ott and Jeb Chiles vs. Demetrius Richards for the evening’s untelevised “local feature” fights.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal says it’s not back to the drawing board, but
there’s no more learning on the job. He’s sticking to what he knows from
now on.
“I just got away from what I’m good at, (and) that’s wrestling,” he
today told MMAjunkie.com from Norman, Okla., where
he’s spending time with family.
Lawal met the first loss of his career and
relinquished his light heavyweight belt to Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante this past Saturday at “Strikeforce: Houston.”
