A pair of light heavyweights looking to rebound from recent high-profile
losses will likely meet in January in what could easily be viewed as a
“must-win” for both contestants involved.
has learned from sources close to the contest that the UFC is targeting a
matchup between Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera at UFC 125.
At least one of the contestants has agreed to the contest, but bout agreements have yet to be distributed.

At Saturday’s UFC Fan Expo Boston 2010, UFC president Dana White said
he’s slowly warming to the idea of a superfight between middleweight
kingpin Anderson Silva and current welterweight
champion Georges St-Pierre.
“They’ve got a couple of guys they’ve got to beat before we make that
fight, but I’m not opposed to making it,” White told a large crowd
gathered for a special Q&A session at the Hynes Event Center in

Despite his loss at UFC 117, Chael Sonnen has earned an immediate rematch with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
UFC president Dana White, who’s busy with a final media blitz for this week’s UFC 118 event in Boston, today confirmed the plans while on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” though a date has not been determined for the rematch.
Sonnen dominated four and a half rounds of the Aug. 7 fight before Silva scored a come-from-behind triangle-choke victory in the fifth and final round.

Events Coordinator Jeremy Luchau that da Silva has signed a four-fight
exclusive contract with the California-based Tachi Palace Fights
organization.
Known as “Formiga” in Portuguese, which translates to “ant” in English, da Silva’s
first opponent has yet to be named, though Luchau said he’s targeting a
yet-to-be-announced Dec. 2 show for the Brazilian’s debut.
